As a Catholic child, things almost always seemed easy. Go to Church, say your prayers, and know that God is good. I would follow this routine because it was simple and allowed for a strong connection to God. As I got older life changed. This simple faithful childhood routine is now becoming a lifeline, a safety net that offers comfort and holds everything together. My connection to God was the one thing that I knew I could rely on.
Pouring my heart and thoughts onto paper offered me the reassurance that everything was going to be okay. With the simple act of writing everything down in my journal, I steadied my faithful connection. With the guidance of the many entries, I use them to create symbolic and illustrative imagery. Through this process, I continue to deepen the connection, raise questions, and share the thoughts that are in my mind.
